Building the Stage and Set
Because parts of the Memorial Hall were out of use because of modifications it was necessary to devise a way of putting on the play without the use of the stage.
Rather than treating this as a problem it was seen as an opportunity. It was an opportunity to present a play in “the round”, an opportunity to build our own performance area and an opportunity to develop lighting schemes that we had never before considered.
The first task was to build a stage. Keith Dollin a local builder and supporter of The Kimpton Players with the help of just one assistant built the stage on the Friday evening.
On the Saturday morning Set Designer David Kazwini had assembled a team to erect the truss system which was to support the lighting.
By Sunday morning with help from a variety of people Mark Hubbard had all the lighting in place ready for the Technical Rehearsal to start at 3pm.
